Welcome!
Thank you for choosing to rent our cabin – we hope you wil enjoy your stay!
Address: Kviissyndin 144, 2973 Ryfoss
Whether you're coming from the east (E16 via Lærdal) or west (E16 via Fagernes), follow the exit to Syndin and signs to Midtre Syndin and Syndinstøga (note: GPS may be inaccurate here).
Please note that the nearest place to buy groceries is at Joker, Ryfoss. We usually shop at Rema 1000, Leira on our way from Oslo. Note that most groceries stores are closed on Sundays. The nearest shop open on Sundays is Kiwi, Aurdal.
The access road is a toll road (NOK 80 in summer, NOK 120 in winter), payable by card.
At Syndinstøga, turn right at the sign marked Kviissyndin. The cabin is on the left side, near the water.
The door has a code lock. If you booked through Airbnb, the code is available in the app. In summer, sheeps and cows roam freely — please keep the gate closed. There is parking for 2–3 cars inside the fence.
The cabin has a Type 2 electric car charger on the wall.
Practical information:
There is sun protection on all the windows - but the cabin can be experienced as warm when you arrive. There are three porch doors - use these for ventilation - so it only takes a few minutes to lower the temperature.
Towels are in cupboards in the bathroom. Bedding is in the closet in the innermost bedroom to the left.
In each bedroom, either the drawers under the bed or the wardrobes are available for storing clothes.
The refrigerator has a lot of free space, and there is a large, free drawer for dry goods. There is a freezer in the shed in the enterance.
Vacuum cleaner hangs on the wall in the shed in the enterance.
For the TV, just use the Apple-TV remote control.
When you leave, we would appreciate it if you could:
-
place used bed linen and towels on the bathroom floor
-
lower the sunshades in the living room
-
check that all windows and doors are locked
-
bring the trash
-
you may also start the dishwasher
Garbage must be thrown in containers at Syndinstøga. There is no sorting other than paper and glass. It is also possible to give a bottle deposit to the Red Cross there.
You can find extra supplies of detergents, toilet paper, toothpaste, dish brushes etc in the cupboards in the bathroom.
Please make yourself at home - should there be anything, do not hesitate to contact us!

We have a small boat by the water which you are welcome to use. There is a path down to the left of the cabin, follow this - about straight ahead.
Life jackets are in the shed in the hallway - three vests, only youth / adult sizes. You can also rent life jackets at Syndinstøga.
Fishing is allowed in the period 15.06.-15.09. Note that you have to buy a licence to fish in the lake, you can buy it here.
During summer:
If you want to go for short walks, there are several options to take right from the door:
Alaoset/Langehage: go up to the road, and turn left. The road will eventually turn into a tractor road/path. Follow the path along the water towards Stølsgrenda Langehage. A great destination with small children!
Storehovda: same description as to Langehage, but you continue at Alaoset - up to the right. The hiking trail is signposted, and goes over Storehovda to Syndinstøga. An easy hike with a great view!
There are several tour books in the cabin - for slightly longer trips we can highly recommend:
Gilafjellet (1582 masl) This is the mountain you see across the lake.
Syndin is also a fantastic area for cycling and trail biking! If you have the opportunity, feel free to bring a bike!
If you are on Strava you can use the Heatmap to find paths and trips in the area. Here are some nice examples logged our selves:
Over Alaoset - Storehovda, kort (6,5 km)
